So much claims have been made for acai berry. Acai for cancer. Acai for heart disease.  Acai for excess weight.  Acai for free radicals. Acai for poor sex drive. Acai for president! (Ha-ha) Acai this. Acai that.
Let's look at the different forms of acai berry supplements and so that you would know how to get the best of each acai berry forms.

Spray Dried Acai Berries - Spray drying means exposing the acai berry fruit to high temperature to get rid of the moisture. After the fruit is basically stripped off its water element, the “dried” acai berry is coated with a food additive called maltodextrin. Maltodextrin is an easily digested carbohydrate from made from corn starch.

Spray dried acai berries may be categorized in the bottom list of the best forms of acai berry supplements. Why? Baring fresh acai berries to very high temperatures strips the berries off   the important nutrients, which will render the berry at a poor quality.

Acai Berry Extract - Acai berry extract is a good supplement but it is not also the best one. It is equally alarming to know though, that some manufacturers actually use spray dried acai berries to produce acai berry extracts, so consumers must be wary on buying this form of acai supplement.

Acai Berry Juice - The advantage of the acai berry juice is that it is easily absorbed by the body. Although it may not be the best acai berry supplement, it is still passable. The catch here is that, normally, when you transform a fruit into liquid form, the anthocyanin and antioxidants are lessened or depleted, however, they may not be totally eliminated.

The trick in buying acai berry juice is to check for the ORAC level. If it is high, it is highly recommended. But do away with acai berry juices which do not even mention the ORAC level sice, most probably, it contains low ORAC value, and is a poor food supplement.

Also, the thicker the juice, the better. Thick juice means there is more pulp. If the juice is watery, then chances are, it is already diluted and may not give the best result as you may expect from the acai berry.

Freeze Dried Acai - This is one of the most valuable forms of acai that is available in your respective health stores. Instead of exposing the fruit into high temperature  which strips it off of both moisture and nutriments, freeze dried  acai involves bringing the pulp of the fruit to a lower temperature to remove water content. The nutrients are then preserved for your consumption.

Fresh Acai - The best way to take in acai berry is of course to eat it fresh. That would mean however, that you are going to have to live in the Central and South American areas to enjoy the benefits of the acai fruit – unless, you have one planted in your backyard!
